The Canadian Scottish (16th Battn C.E.F.)
go over a piece of open ground which the Germans would spot you on - It was only my second night up &I thought there was a bridge over a ditch. We started out & the Germans began to snipe, Master thought he saw the bridge, so he stepped out long & fast and landed into four foot of water. The devil but it was cold & wet: fortunately my orderly was a big man & he managed to pull me out.
We do ourselves pretty well - our double Company consists of Rae, Jarvie Davis (who sends you his love) Vic MacLean, Lindsay (red haired but you don't know him) & self. All batchelors and
