1918

July 1. Had a most refreshing bathe in La Cauche in cold water. Found Div. Hqrs at Le Cauroy is larager pretentious chan with v. fine avenues & grounds. In the sports CII came out second, Ci first, Civ 3rd; Corps Troops 4th & Ciii 5th - 2qn Bn won tug of war as usual.

2. FGCM at Maizieres - walked back

3. Found that the husband of the Ctesse to wh. our Chan belongs is Naval attache in London. Walked to Gd Rullecourt & back. Nights still cool. Billetted in Nyrien but with Senior Chaplain (afterwards Rector os St Lakes) - Major Wells - the [illegible] here and particularly the trees are exquisite.

4. To 3rd Army Hqrs at Thesdin with Capt. HH Harding, Gordon Hights, VI Corps Hqrs CMO for FGCM there. Finest roses got seen near the Hendin.

9. Prosecuted at Central CM at AMBRINES & walked back. Then walked to LIGNEREUIL to dine with 5th Bde. Mess Hqrs had my fine tapestry. Lots of walking today.

10. Sat on Central FGCM at LATTRE ST QUENTIN till 730 pm. walked home by 9.15 pm. 6 miles
