up but all got in safetly - The place still thick with Germans.

Apl 19. Few casualties

" 20. Relieved 28th Bn on frontline but did not move Bn H.Q. wh. is now 3000 yds from frontline with another 700 yds on to outposts - 300 yds beyond that an uncertain German line - Arleux Loop. heavy shelling, very heavy & our H.Q. decidedly uncomfortable.

Apl 21. Weather better but shelling worse. Trausford[?] had a very long haul & a rough time - Horse [illegible] deep in mud. This day our hausfoal[?] had 3 men cas. & 5 horses. Relieved by 20th & camp out to camp near Aux Rietz. Last to arrive just in at 7. am after a pretty hot time.

Apl 22. Sund. Everyone resting. [illegible] developing in back area since the "Push".

Apl 23. WO Maclean went up to front line last night & returned 7 am after a very hot experience in settling a taped line in N.W. L. Ch Pasach. Major Latta walked to Maroreil[?] for a bath by the R. Scarfe & very peaceful.

Apl 24. An officer killed by premature have one of our 6 in [illegible] - Enemy shelled the neighbourhood.
