Oct 16 Mon Ordered to take all Coy MGs into front line near Souchey. Did so & relieved 8 Lincoln about 4 pm. Fine - Fairly good dugouts. Front line bad. Minenwerfers & light mortar stuff from Fritz. Little artillery - no bullets except snipers. Actg as 2 in C.

Oct 17 Tues Dull work. Going the rounds of trenches & much time in dug outs. - Some heavy minenwerfers thrown on the trenches.

Oct 18 Wed Raining & most disagreable day & night. Work parties at night.
