July 22 [1917?] Dearest Mother I wrote you a letter a week ago,down at our squadron Office and a couple of days ago discovered that it had not been posted, through some oversight on the part of the office staff. You may be sure I 'strafed" the sergeant in charge, for, though I am in a position to do that, I am only a junior subaltern and have little time to write letters. Though I don't do a great deal of actual work, I have to be on the job, keeping the cadets flying and telling them their mistakes and how to correct them. First of all I must tell you of my whereabouts. We are at one of the camps near the the town of Desoronto, which you doubtless can locate.
