fare a great deal better in England than the civilian population. The food problem is getting to be a regular nightmare with the mothers of the country - to say nothing of air raids over London which are again prevalent just now. And your handy little calender will be very useful. I am actually wearing the classy pair of socks at this moment!! It was far too kind of you to go to this extent for me, Miss Russell, and I assure you of my appreciation. It is seven months since our draft came away: and I must confess to having had quite an enjoyable time coming over to and while in England - considering the little inconveniences of a soldier's life. It brings us up tho' to think of the good folks left behind who are thinking and praying for us.
