fare a great deal better in England than the civilian population. The food problem is getting to be a regular nightmare with the mothers of the country - to say nothing of air raids over London which are again prevalent just now. And your handy little calender will be very useful. I am actually wearing the classy pair of socks at this moment!! It was far too kind of you to go to this extent for me, Miss Russell, and I assure you of my appreciation. I was well remembered by the good people in Victoria and my better half broke all her former records with her two boxes for Christmas. An on average she has sent me a parcel a week since leaving Victoria - and letters galore. It is seven months since our draft came away: and I must confess to having had quite an enjoyable time coming over to and while in England - considering the little inconveniences of a soldier's life. It brings us up tho' to think of the good folks left behind who are thinking and praying for us.
