Saturday October 23rd 1915
French Front - Germans are bombarding very vigourously the position which the French won during the great Champagne Advance. Givenchy + Souchez regions again the scene of a German offensive, which has been repulsed. Canadian Front: the enemy indulged in a fair amount of bombing yesterday, trench Mortar Bombs "Sausage" variety + rifle-grenade most frequent. A mine was successfully exploded by us West of Wytschaete. At 4.05 the enemy was further disturbed by one of his own shells falling into his trenches near Wytschaete causing a lot of shouting. Submarine Warfare - The Germans are doing their utmost to avenge their recent losses in the Gulf of Bothnia. They are reported to have succeeded in damaging one submarine in the Baltic. It was Swedish.
