Dear Fred
Your private letter dated 9/1/19 & the Barkerville News Buget June 1918 got to Eastbourne Feb 5, my sisters at once sent it on to me in France but I did not get it then as I was on my way here (Eng) for demoblesed leave, when it got to my Unitt however it followed me back & came to hand here a day or two ago.
You bet I was glad to get it as it was the first I had from you for a long time. In fact I dont beleve I got one fm you after I left Eng last Aug. I got the one in which you told me of the scrap Brown had with Grain (pity Brown had not shown the same eagerness to scrap with the Hun when most of us came over). I wrote several letters to you fm France, one in the first week of Sept & about one month after that till Xmas. I never had much to say this time as my work was not so interesting as it was the first time I came over. I got a parcel fm the Barkerville wool fund, very nice & very axceptable indeed I wrote & told them I had recieved it.
