but luckily no accidents happen. Home again at 6 p.m. May 28th. On e of our packers falls with a load and sprains his ankle, he is one of our best man so shall miss his services for two weeks. The linemen are busy shoving the work ahead on rocks and snow. No sign of gold, deer or bear. May 29th. resting quietly, some are doing their washing. May 30th. Move camp once more. the hills seem to get much harder to pack on as we get farther ahead. The man with the sprained ankle comes in before nightfall. May 31st. We light fires on the side of precipice and triangulate distance as it is impossible to chain it. Measuring our base line in valley below. Strike a she-bear heavy with young she toddles along not minding us in the least.
