this evening. They said that they had been on this boat for two years and had not seen a submarine yet so I guess we are pretty safe. The subs keep away from convoyed ships , it would be too much like playing with fire to attack them. This ship is not so very large; in fact smaller than the Empresses of "Russia and Asia" which displace 18,000 tons, I think . The Missanabie and Metagama displace about 14,000. I recieved your letter Mother dear but have not got it near me. I am glad you will use the money I want you too.
