this morning. They said that they had been on this boat for two years and had not seen a submarine yet so I guess we are pretty safe. The subs keep away from convoyed ships, it would be too much like playing with fire to attack them.

This ship is not so very large; in fact smaller than the Empresses of "Russia and Asia" which displace 18,000 tons, I think. The Missanabie and Metagama displace about 14,000.

I received your letter Mother dear but have not got it near me. I am glad you will use the money I want you to. I think I might find that I can spare more after I find what my pay amounts to in England. Tell Dad I will write him before going to England. Love to you both as ever
