Finish scrubbing out hut + fixing up office - arrange for messing - Draw straw + bedboards - Indent for Saturday Rations - order tea, milk, sugar, butter and bread for Friday Tea. Receive wire to provide for 8 more men. Got the blues badly and wish to goodness the battery would arrive.

26 FRIDAY (147 - 219) Queen Mary born, 1867

Put final touch on preparations - meet train with 5 motor lorries + 1 horse transport + stay with baggage . Maj. Eady (1890) oldish but very nice. - Does not look very capable. Lt. Deane short, pudgy - Quinton nice boy. Eady make me observing officer.

27 SATURDAY (148-218) General Fatigues and Gun Drill - Pick out observers class which I am to train. Garrison Orderly officer over Sunday. Write Young enclosing P.O.O. 17/3d Cheque {pound sign} 5-2-9 liquidating loan - Turn Guard out at 10:45 pm.
