Make out cheques 799864, 799857 - Apr 20 - Mar10 - [pound sign] 25 each covering all I can spare for 4 mos. Feb. Mar. Apr. May. (Mail 19th II) Dirty, squally day- stay in quarters, except for short walk around by W. Blockhouse [Loas?] Casualties Sept. 23 - Oct. 7th 59, 000 odd. Play Jones at chequers + lose one game to the colonel, much to his elation. Submarine reported nearby, signalling.
