Yesterday attended the Salvonic Service in the Cathedral - very impressive - but it occurred to me that this foreign priest simply because of an established church was granted a privilege which the most famous nonconformist divine could not obtain - such is Oxford - the last stronghold of conservatism.

Later to a sumptuous tea at Rostovtseff's - to meet two Russian girls & and Englishman & his wife lately returned from Petrograd.
