He has gone up to London on leave, he didn't quite know what he would do when I saw him, but he intended trying to get back to his old Regt. in France, failing that he said he had been offered a good staff appointment in Victoria which he might accept. He wasn't looking at all well when he was down here he thought he was in for grippe or something. There has been a regular epidemic of "flu" all over England, as no doubt you have noticed in the papers. Isn't it strange? Half the officers in this depot have been down with it ("Spanish Fly" is the latest name for the disease round camp. I believe the first bad epidemic of it started in Spain hence the name! I am glad to say so far I have escaped being bitten! We are having a regular wet Sunday this week, the rain is very badly needed for the crops as there has been a long spell of drought, & things were getting pretty well dried up. I wish the rain had held off for the week end though, a wet week end in camp is always rather miserable, one doesn't mind
