Nov 7 The Ger. garrison at Tsing tau surrendered after plucky resistance to the Japanese besiegers. An old gentleman Major Gaskell, who lived in Dresden for many years and is over 80 years old has been imprisoned here because he is an "English military man". Shame!

Nov. 10 From today I am required to report twice daily. 9 a.m. & 5 p.m. to the police. All British ladies have to do likewise.

Nov. 11 This eve at the "Haupt Polizerqebaude" I saw most of the Englishmen, about a dozen, who are to be sent on to the concentration camp at "Ruhleben" near Berlin at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning They were allowed to say good bye to their friends & relations &BC Archives, MS-2570
