and we have had it fixed on a rifle and expect great things from it. Sniping is not much good without them, because you see a loophole, or something, through your glasses, but when you try to line it up through your sights, you cannot see anything. I am glad the weather prophets say we are to have dry weather, so far there have been no signs of it. Occasionally we go on parade under a fine clear sky, and get soaked through before we get back. You have no idea how welcome any little delicacies are out here. I have given up caring for useful things. They are too darn heavy to carry. Just saw a touching sight in the yard, half the Company, with their shirts off, "Snipe" hunting. Well I must go and wash my spare pair of socks - an operation which I hate.
