120 18th Week. APRIL, 1918. 4th & 5th Months. 30 TUESDAY [120-245] Absolutely down and out again. As I am supposed to hunt[?] up Col. Mott get up and dress, but never get out of room - Daniels acquires a couple of whiskies - and some sodas out west and wrangles fatuously with Gibson about a ten shilling note he owes him and can't find. May 1st Wednesday. Repeat comments of 30th. Moved into a room by myself - Daniels is very good in helping me around -- is an University man, was private tutor and then drafted - West Shades[?] of Netley. Nurse Donovan actually sits on my bed and feeds me chocolates - is Irish, from the rebel county of Wexford. There is also here Nurse Leet - London girl with glasses - mush perturbed over the pain caused by dressing the boil - calls me "my baby" - but assures me it is not in a deprecatory sense. Also Scotch V.A.D Nurse Hasband, also overflowing with zeal to spoil me. Being the only officer to need a dressing have evidently become a personage of importance. The sister in a harge[?] Gay is ales[?] a cheery soul and has no earmarks of the Griff as Sister Breeze-up (Brace) of Netley. May 2nd. Nothing bu unspeakable dreariness, aspirin + cau-del- cologne soaked bandages on my head. Now the night. Sister is Scotch, tall and rather well-favoured- good colour and fine eyes and figure- by name of Sharp. Tonight the lights fused[?] and I sally out looking for her as a source of aspirin - behold! She cometh escorted by a young officer with a flash-light.
