118 Netley to No 4 London General 18th Week. APRIL, 1918. 4th Month. 28 Sunday [118-247] 4th after Easter. Farewell to all at Netley - Nurse Cumings by appointment -(hers)- is quite sentimental -oh well, ada, it wont hurt- she has been a goodhearted girl and in three months constant attention friendship is sure to overstep the platonic with one party at least - most naive + childlike is her plaintive "Promise me you wont write Sister Tessier oftener than you do me" - emphasized with a souvenir of an uniform button from her cloak. Bowyer + I meet the two mild [?] girls in the evening and have an agreeable stroll on the shore. - Farewell conventional here- altho 'Ray' raises enough genuine feeling to slip her hand out of her glove. Ah, well, here I am penning these trivialities while than vast tragedy is playing across the narrow seas - We idly mark the khaki crowded transports tailing down Southampton Water - little enthusiasm and less hope on their decks.
