to amuse ladies now. I play gold every day, but the links are in a rotten state, they were nearly washed away in a cloud burst the other day. We have tennis too, but as the courts are all asphalt, it is too swift for me. I find that my handicap has gone down to about 40 after having been a fairly steady 12, which makes me feel like sitting down to cry. I cannot approach for coffee and generally cake about 4 on the green. I expect I shall get back on my game soon, but my own clubs are at home. People are mostly very pessimistic here, they want kicking badly.

I fell in with a whole lot of Hong Kong pals at the club the other day, much to my regret the next morning. It was just like a mothers meeting, everyone trying to talk at once.

I wonder if you remember that dinner we four had in a little restaurant, I often look back on that as one of the best evenings I have had. When we meet again after the war we must have some more. Is there any chance of your coming over to England, if you get the opportunity let me
