Jan 18. Fine & dull. Bn moved off at 10.15. Passed GOC Bde at Ferfoy at noon. Billetted in Rainiber at 1 pm - no falling out.

19. Fine - Bn left Rainiber at 9 am. Bde bivouac lunch just east of Houdain. Saw Capt L.R. Lempriere RANC at 1st Army Hqrs (old Haileybury Chum) arrd at Estvu Cauchy at 4 pm. No cas. on march.

20. Head out at 10. arr'd Suburbanlaup Vilieus au Bois 11.30 am. Rotten camp. Rained in night - saw Capt Barclay (formerly of 88th)

24. Exchanged camp with 27th at Hills' Camp, Neuville St Vaast - Whq parties at night , 2 casualties.

26. With 30th made reconnaisance of support area. 4 hours good walking - Found 18th Bn there. Came back by Givenchy & over Vimy Ridge by [illegible] - Very interesting.

28. Advance parties & guards moved up in am. Bn moved off at 4. Relief complete by 8.15 pm.

29-31. Frosty nights & misty - days - 260 O.R. working [illegible] daily- much & always watching aeroplanes.
