looked like a huge golden butterfly straining upward. The bombs looked red as they left her & they dropped about 400 yards away making curious splashes of greenish yellow light with a dark centre. BCo & 15 Pl. came out later.

8. Before dawn a Boche plane dropped 4 bombs on our camp killing 2 offrs in the next tent (31st & 28th Bns). & wounding Sergt Hilder & [illegible]. (During all this time the camp was shelled with big H.V. guns but strangely no casualties). Bn entrained at Ypres - detrained at Braudhoek & marched to Toronto Camp - Baths for men - good night of much needed rest.

9. Remained in camp.

10. Early start & entrained at Braudhoek. 40 offrs & 664 O.R. Transport by road. Rained hard. Detrained at Caestre & marched to Houdeghan but found that by defective staff work our billets - all occupied by 47 Bn . Pouring rain - Everyone soaking & mad & hungry. Eventually got billetted all over the place.

11. Mon. Rain. Enbussed & moved to HAVERESKERQUE near ST. VENANT.
