Oct 30. F.G.Chr at Houdeghem 6thBde Hqrs. Heavy showers. Italy still running & losing enormous numbers of prisoners

Nov 2. Warned for forward move. Reconnaisance party undr Scout offr went forward.

3. Marched from Houdeghem to (AESTRE where entrained - Transport going by road. Detrained YPRES & marched to POTIJZE where bevouacke in the muddy fields. [illegible]

4. Bn less B.Co moved to the line. Tremendous artillery barrage by our guns. Major Wilson & some other offrs & myself stayed out.

5. Evacuation party of 100 OR including both bands moved up to TYNE COTT under Lt Harvey. Harvey was killed & party suffered rather heavily.

6. 6thBde went over the top 28, 31 & 27? Left to R. in front line & took Passchendale. 2g Bn held front line for them to go through & then took the shelling. Bn less B.Co & 1 Plat. D. Co. came out at about 4 am. 79 all dead beat. Casualties 1 offr & 140 OR. Saw a Gotha plane dropping about 20 bombs when picked up in the beams of 13 search light.
