July 22 Bn went into line in Leus sector. Major Latta C.O.

24. Boche tried to raid BCo, Relieved by 54th Bn & moved into support

Aug 10/11 Gas shell bombardment at Learoc . The first time we had experienced the new mustard gas. We saved a dud shell wh. proved to be something new. The exemption [?] of the Bn four casualties in this severe bombardt. was the occasion of a special [intelligible] letter four Division holding up the Bn w others as an example of what vigilance & discipline could do.

14/15 Bn moved into Cote St Pierre & came under orders of 5th Bde for operations. Wet night.

15. Ab 4.25 am attack on Hill 70 MW of Leus began. Two Div's engaged. All objectives gained. Prisoners coming in fast. Came out to transport lines with [intelligible].

16. Went to Bethune with Chance & Reid

19. Sund. Major Wilmot came out. Bn moved up to front [intelligible].

21. 29Bn left & 27th on eight made attack at dawn on [intelligible] Alley from Commotion jumping off a little ahead of later bunch. 29n reached objective but had to put back
