27. Fine & cold with strong wind. Wildest rumours floating about. Men quite gay & steady.

28. Stand to ab 1 am & reconnoitered assembly positions. Later on packed up & formed up as Bn. Later returned & reached [illegible] - Rained hard & conditions not improved. Much better reports from our front. Marched a few miles through pouring rain & dark to billets in a village. BEARLES au Bois.

29. Bde moved with exception of 29th altho we stood to & packed up . Billets quite comfortable. a few inhabitants still left.

30. Reconnoitering parties - Guards behaving splendidly at AYETTE & holding back the enemy who repeatedly attacked.

31. Mon. reconnoitering - Ch. parade. Bn parade later when Ben'l Burstall presented tug of war shield for Corps Championship. The proved to be EASTER SUNDAY
