17 Jan Last night & this am big raid on our left - very spectacular

18 Jan Four inches snow last night very sloppy.

19 Jan Fri 6 inches snow freezing. Divl relief in progress. Major Smith rejoined. Bath. I walked out to transport Line through snow starting 9 PM & getting in 1 AM. through losing my way. CO not find billet so QMS 1st Bde took me in - rather tired & no voice.

20 Jan Sat Started out for BRUAY on foot for lecture on Tanks en route for Bethune & Boulogne for 1st Army School. Met H. K. Robinson on the way - From Bruay walked to Bethune.

Spent miserable night waiting for train. Train came in late.

21 Jan Sunday Very cold - no windows in train - no bkfast or lunch. Arrd Bethune 5 pm. Waited 1 1/2 hours in open train. Arrd Chateau d'Hardelot w- Condelle at 8 pm. Good hot meal & good quarters.
