Your tin box of strong peppermints and licorice has reached me safely and I am enjoy them in country lately taken from the Germans. It is indeed a country laid waste with Biblical thoroughness.

Every inch of the surface has been changed by shell fire. It is no wonder that the Boche could not stand it.

Thank you for your two letters and indeed I am grateful for your prayers and have great faith in them. We are pushing the Enemy very hard now & though he fights desperately as a rule he has to give way.
