Islay on port beam

Thursd June 8 1916 Reached Prince's Dock Liverpool about 8 am & landed about 9 am. Left by LTSW at 10.15. Lunch at Rugby 3/-. Reached Westernhanger Kent via London (Kensington) at 6.45 pm. (Last night clocks put on 1 hour to agree with daylight saving scheme now adopted in England.) Marched up to Otterpool camp where we found tents ready. 89th Bn ahead of us in huts. Fine beautiful country. Heard cuckoo & skylarks. Saw searchlights over Dover. 69th Bn French Canadian showed us great kindness & hospitality giving us dinner & bkfast follg morning.

Friday June 9 Very poor night though well & warm. Fine & birds songs beautiful. Air full of skylarks. Inspected by Brig Col Moore heavy thunderstorm
