If you do go to Ottawa it will of course be a serious matter. It will mean having extra skilled help in the office & probably paying higher rather than lower salaries. In times of stress and pinching one has to be careful to pinch in the right place.

Old Dr. Richardson who is Divisional Sanitary Officer came all the way up here today & seemed glad to meet old acquaintances. He offered me all sorts of hospitality if I should have the chance of looking him up at his Hqrs. Clothing is getting expensive. I have to pay about £10 for tunic & slacks & at least £6.6 for boots but even at that it is cheaper than buying civilian clothes because one can have so few. According to regulations we are only allowed 3 prs socks & 5 hdcfs & 1 extra shirt though we are allowed 2 ties.
