It is a place where yachts tie up for the winter. It boasts a "Hard" and an Inn whose walls are washed by the waves at high tide & bearing the attractive name of the Butt & Oyster. Today which began in snow & ended in perfect spring sunshine. Geoffry & I walked into Ipswich & back. Notwithstanding that it was meatless day we have an excellent lunch at the club. London is really the worst place to be in now for shopping or eating & certainly for air raids.

Tomorrow I expect to reach Carleton. Frank ought by now to be in Sweden. I wonder how John Oliver's government will turn out.
