The Book which I produce and refer to is in my own handwriting and the entries were made at the time - The contractors orders were destroyed in due course about a month after the payday - The day after the money of nos 1, 4, 5 & 6 was paid - the Chinamen designated by those numbers came to the Company's office and made statements about them - Those Chinese did not receive any money from me for work done by them in the month of April 1891 The amount paid on account of No 5 Chinamen was $20 12/"
