Mr. Beck;- How many people were in the front seat? A;- I suppose there was four altogether but I could not positively state. Q;- But there were four in with the driver? A;- Well, I don't know about the man, if the man was inside, or outside with his head inside. Q;- Did you hear any exclamation by the lady? A;- No. Q;- "There's a red light"? A;- No. Q;- "There's a danger signal, the bridge is open."? A;- No; I heard none. Q;- This exclamation was immediately followed by the brakes. Juror; Did you think that noise, sound you heard would be someone telling you to stop? A;- I didn't have any idea whether it was someone getting out; I could not say whether it was someone in the jitney or outside. Mr. Ladner;- It would not be anyone a hundred and fifty feet away? A;- No. Q;- More likely in the jitney? A;- Yes. Mr Beck;- It was more a cry of despair, it was no casual remark? A;- Yes. Q;- Did he say "Pull up" or something like that? A;- I could not say. Shortly after, we just had supper and shortly after I heard the boat. I went on the bridge with my father to help him open. My father locked the gates and we went. We got it two parts open and I noticed the lights of an
