Jack wrote us a full account of that month on the old Yukon trail and of the shortage of provisions, I think he also spoke of being shot at by an Indian or perhaps it was someone else in the party. How he loved that kind of life, the hardships were unimportant the companionship thoroughly congenial. It is a cruel fate that took him away from it all.
