Go on survey L.34 Goldstream - beastly rainy day & get soaked through & dead tired. Burnet survey 1894 - very good work.

Pretty fair day - up into snow on a craggy hill - triangulate 20 chains.

At home sorting out my survey gear.

Capture of Bucharest announced by Germans.

7th Goldstream survey - Hoakes, Parry, Fort & myself - get some pretty heavy chopping & play myself out completely.

Walter Landsborough killed on the Somme in October - Jim wounded at Ypres but back again to the front after 6 mos. in "Blighty"
