Send application - all papers to Col. Coles Can. Siege Bde. Horsham for transfer from the Imperials to his unit - am afraid I build scant hope of his being able to get the war office to sanction this. In view of the desperate state of my affairs I must get a job with more pay.

Out with Hoakes surveying part of Glendenning farm, Lost Lake - find I play out unless I take things very easy. By appointment meet Fred Butterfield at office - wishes to obtain appointment in France for me through his (imagined) influence with Maj. Gen. Currie.
