16 TUESDAY [137-229] hanging out line of fire. Posted To 133 Siege and rush off to London. dinner at Nat. Lib. Club with Elliott and hear Doris Keane in 'Romance' - Splendid, but her appearance spoiled by beauty patch Stop Hayells Family Hotel. Strand.

17 WEDNESDAY [138-228] 2h 1'm P.M. (Greenwich) Morning in Record office with Jenkinson. - See Domesday Book, Red Booth The Old Pipe Rolls and Exchanges Tally 12th Century - Acres of parchments mainly undeciphered. Afternoon call on T S Mooreand Nellie Gauley- Latter poor girl in a stuffy drapers shop on a mean street Dinner amid much pomp at Jenkinsons - Mrs J. more literary than pretty - Girton girl.
