Friday October 22nd/15

Got two hours of exercise than down to the Oliviers - Book of views from Ada. had just bee received. Lieut. Vernon is trying to get me two days extra leave to see about that wretched commission.

Canadian Corps No 30.

Owing to the reported activity of the enemy it was decided as a counter effort to blow up our mine in front of J3 (N. 24.a) - Our mine was loaded at 11 am & at 510pm further sounds of mining being heard. It was fired. It is considered that the explosion was a completed success. The German gallery being destroyed.

The enemy's attitude was not changed 32nd Siege Battery reports that the enemy replied to our registration of their trenches at Petit Bois. Their fire was very accurate and their battery has not been located. At 1250pm the enemy threw bombs grenades on trench I.4, but were stopped

by our artillery fire, which also dispersed
