in supporting points & 3rd resting at St Marguerite. Kriegsfreiwilliger - volunteers for period of the war. Wingles 18-9-15 "I beg to submit to the officer commanding the Regt the following complaint concerning the unfairness that obtains in the 4th Coy, as regards the selection of men for gallant conduct. Iron Crosses are generally given to the sort of people that have not earned them at all, as for example, the men who have been orderlies for 6 or 9 mos, and then, after three or four weeks at the front, get promotion & the Iron Cross. I, unfortunately (ungluchlicherweise) have hitherto always been up for punishment during the whole 12 months that I have been with the Regt; and have always proved myself one of the bravest in every fight. I have always volunteered for difficult patrolling work; which others did not like, as my comrades can testify. I remain, as hitherto, a young and gallant warrior who fears no foe" Emil Potschamper (Kriegsfreiwilliger)
