Tuesday October 12th 1915

Zeppelin scare tonight -- Bells rung at 740, all lights extinguished - townsfolk much excited -- Zeppelins pass near Lillebecke & give us the go by after all.

Busy all day putting 2nd & 3rd G.H.Q lines on 1/20,000 sheets.

Reported that Belgrade has fallen - Distant cannonading--gunflashes illuminate the sky like heat lightning.

See an aeroplane being treated to German shrapnel - -it gets clear -- Hear the motor transport service cost 1/4 million dollars a day -- Buy a souvenir Ypres badge for Ada, which I hope she will wear.

Operations -- at midnight a party of three officers & one NCO went out to the enemy's wire opposite Trench 139 -- succeeded in removing 3 sets of double angle irons each supporting
