-16th Batt. moved back to Neuve Eglise - Called before Maj. Peck & Capt Morrison instructed to survey trenches - Chose Baxter as assistant - Moved down to dugout at Prouse Cor, drawing rations from Red Cross 3rd Batt. - Get a bullet thru hair while standing on Messines Road & arrested as Germ. Spies & halled before officers of 8th Battalion - Insult to injury.

Start survey with Prismatic Compass -Much suspicion & Trouble with sentries Tonight the Germans shell one of our aeroplanes - The whole of a shrapnel casing landing 100' from our dugout, burying in 18" - Some of new draft in the 3rd ultra cautious - periscopes through loophole plates - Col.
