Saturday July 16th/15

Again a large working party ordered out, but called off on account of the rain.

Sunday July 17th

Working party today & then moved into the front line of trenches at dark - Jack Ensch, 'Tuck' Dan McGregor & I all in one dugout - no head room at all at back. About 300 yds from German line here. Not allowed to take equipment off, but all except one man per traverse mercifully allowed to sleep - until "stand-to" at 230-330 am. - Quietish night - few flares and little sniping.
