Infl. Bde aT The apex of The [Ypres?] salienT in The fierce fighTing of April 24th. IT Thus came back. A 2d German aeroplane was hiT + broughT don 930 am. by our flying Corps, wiThin The enemy's lines. This aeroplane is reported as having previously been dropping aerial bombs near Kemmel Hill Dummy MorTar BaTTeries. Acaptured German Order of 2d [Bawar?] Foot arTillery Bde, daTed Aug 1st, sTaTes ThaT experimenTs which have been made wiTh a view To geTTing rid of The ring of smoke produced when a mortar is fired have noT given saTisfacTory resulTs An aTTempT has consequently been


made To produce This ring arTificially in dummy baTTeries. The apparatus used is cylinders - conical Pin Tube 1.90 m long + 40 cm. in diameTer in The cylindrical parT, which is charged wiTh 150g. black powder, IT is placed in The enTrances of The shelTer holding The men ThaT work iT.
