Assistant mess orderly, work with Pete MacDonald. Wrote Noakes & Lorne.

Mess orderly today. Elliott's parents visit barracks. Wrote Ada.

Out by the "Red Lion". Officers apparently don't quite know what to do. Considerable marching & counter marching, extended order scouting.

Trench digging. Cold showery day with one driving squall. On fatigue in evening in officer's quarters fixing up for 18 new officers. Emery, McKeen & Stewart under arrest for disappearance of stuff at Ashford. Receive our new shoulder badges.
