Aug.10. Painting Warren miniature at home in a.m. Out to tea with [illegible] st. in p.m. Saw Bradley Fairchild later. He came from Denmark day before yesterday. His mother & sister still there. He came all the way without a passport.

Aug 11. An extremely hot and Sultry day. Railway communication open to many of the German towns. As an indication of the state of 'nerves' from which many of the Dresdners are suffering, this anecdote told me the other day by a good old German woman who had lived all her life in Dresden, is typical
