run, is guarded day and night. Aug 1. Ger. declared war on Russia. Aug 2. Report that a French aeroplane had dropped bombs near Nuremburg. Troops here being mobilised. Crowds around Haupt Bahnhof in the evenings watching trains with men arrive & leave. Aug 3. Ger. declared war on France. Aug 3. A very sharp lookout is being kept for Russian spies. Several having been caught already. They are said to have tried to cut telephone wires, poison water, blow up railway bridges etc. I saw two or three persons arrested at the Haupt Bahnhof in the evening, supposed to be Russians
