rain in the afternoon. Placed Pte Toy under Open Arrest for falsifying his Medical Sick report in order to escape duty. Had a letter from Father. My men again heavily shelled at DUISANS.

April 7th Went into H.Q. Saw Colonel. On my way back at Liencourt I met 2nd Lieu A. Davie walking to rejoin his unit after coming out of hospital. He walked back with me & we had lunch & a jolly nice time & in the afternoon we walked almost into AVESNES. We also went to the Officers Club & both wrote to Madge. A most enjoyable time. Webb called. Paid up Mme LeMosle up to April 3rd. Guns very busy. Davie gone on to DUISANS, in action tomorrow night. Again shelled.

April 8th Easter Sunday. Very busy all day. Ripping weather. Inspection of blankets (Lice) in afternoon. Great deal of Cavalry passing through. Men half day off.

April 9th Easter Monday. A very cold & rotten windy day. Waited in Orderly Room
