to catch motor lorry. Roads very, very bad, arrived here at ETREE-WAMIN about 9:15 P.M & found a Colonel of the Bedfords in my billet & our Mess occupied by nine Bedford officers & poor old Webb at Mme Flouce's. I slept the night on Webb's floor. This was the doings of our supreme friend the Town Mayor 2nd Lieut Austin B.F.A. 3rd Line & a Parson at that.

Mar 13th On roads all day. Moved into Mme Veuve Deleury No 48, a dirty rotten place - one night only. Have meals with Webb at Mme Flouce's.

Mar 14th Changed from above to Mme Olivea Phillipe's place. Also having meals with Webb. Had letter from Jessie. Roads very bad.

Mar 15th On rounds. Cycled into Frevent. Saw Cpl A. S. Malin. In evening motored in with Lieut Webb. Road between Avesnes & Frevent very bad. Rum issue.
