The weather here lately has been mighty snappy and it takes all the pleasure out of sleeping in the trenches. Many the time I wished I had a four point Hudson Bay blanket over me but no such luck. This thing cannot finish to soon for me as I have had enough to do me for some time. Soldiering is alright on paper but the real stuff is a bit unhealthy. I do not see how any of us are going to come out of this affair alive but someone has to come back to tell the story but who it will be is hard to say yet. I have
