Canadian Military Hospital Hastings II II Ward

Sussex 12.4.1916

Dear Fred,

Your letter of Feb 12 just received today, just two months since you wrote it. Since I wrote you last I have been moved down here to Hastings, am still in hospital, only got out of bed a week ago today - I've had the bone of my left leg wired together and the job is just so so.

I don't know yet whether I will get home in time to see the ice go out of the lake, but I hope to. They don't seem to do things in any great hurry over here, so will probably be hanging around for two or three months yet.

This is sure a dandy place to be, the weather is not very good yet, but we have some pretty good times not withstanding the drawbacks. The visitors have not started to come down here yet as the spring is so backward. There is lots of escape for a young fellow here with the fair maidens, also those on the dividing line have a jolly good time. I've found lots of things out
